Discussion 3266

Developing questions and hypotheses about workplace motivation is one of the most important first steps to understanding and applying the theories of motivation in the workplace. This week, you will look more closely at this vital part of theory building and how you can go about developing quality application-focused ideas, questions, and hypotheses.

Part 1

First, provide an analysis of your own experience through unsystematic and systematic observation, applied theory and issues that can help you to develop sound research. Second, how would you apply your ideas regarding workplace motivation?

View the following scenario. From your current perspective, what would you consider to be the key workplace motivators for employees in the workplace today? Briefly highlight which theories would best allow you to guide and to help you develop hypotheses to test your notions of workplace motivators. Include references from: Latham, G. P. (2012). Work motivation: History, theory, research, and practice. Thousand Oaks, CA: SAGE.

Part 2

Next, go the Library and find a scholarly research report on a topic of interest regarding workplace motivation and attitudes. Briefly recap the Introduction, Method, Results, and Discussion sections of this study for your peers (using your own words). Provide a brief evaluation of the quality of each section in your research report. Keep this information readily available to you as you will use this to write up your annotated bibliography at the end of this unit.
